Last weekend, we ventured farther into Punggol East to check out the new cluster of container-themed eateries located at Tebing Lane. Just as we expected, we were quickly drawn into the vibrancy of the location, it’s almost like a hipster town within Singapore! A perfect spot for Instagram-worthy photographs of food and “ootd”.
Seoul Good Dessert and Coffee is one of the seven container-themed eateries. They offer a variety of Korean street delights such as Korean chicken, rice cake (Tteokbokki), Bingsoo and an assortment of teas and coffee. Here are some of the dishes that we have tried.
4pc Special Soy Chicken Wings with Ice Tea ($7.90)
The Special Soy Chicken Wings are different from the usual small crispy korean chicken from 4Fingers or Jinjja Chicken. Seoul Good’s chicken is fleshier, well marinated, juicy and slightly crispy. With compressed pressure-cooking technique, the meat is less greasy. We have also found out that the sauce was specially mixed and simmered for 45 minutes to seal in the flavours.
Chicken & Beef Savoury Churro ($8.50)
If you like churros but desire something more savoury than sweet, you can go for these beautifully rounded churros with Chicken strips and minced Beef! It’s crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. It is so fresh that it melts in your mouth. We reckoned these churros would go well with beer or soju!
Rice Cake (Tteokbokki)
This unpretentious bowl of rice cakes is appetizing! The rice cakes soaked in the thick sauce is soft all through. The sauce is sweet but carries a hint of spiciness. It’s the type of spiciness that slowly sets in on your palate and diffuses through the tongue. In my opinion, this dish would be perfect if rice cakes were a little more chewy!
Overall, this charming space in Punggol East is a great spot for cafe hopping! Within proximity to the park, it beckons families, friends, dog walkers and couples. The container concept is exciting! If you can’t get seats indoors due to the limited capacity, the positive side is, you get to enjoy the lush greenery while relishing the food!
