Burgers and Boozes - Hans Im Glück opens its First Asia's outlet in Singapore!

It's Friday and a Christmas weekend is awaiting! How are you planning to spend your time?

For those who are looking for a sweet spot to hang out with buddies or friends, you could check out the latest German gourmet burger grill in town, Hans Im Glück! Located beside Shaw House, between Thai Embassy and International Building, the successful burger chain from Munich has just open its door to Asia and Singapore is selected to be its first outpost!

Hans Im Glück has 50 outlets altogether, with 49 located across Europe and its 50th in Singapore. They are known for their scrumptious and healthier European-style burgers. There are more than 30 varieties of European gastro burgers to choose from, including vegan and vegetarian options, starting from $14 onwards. Diners can select the types of buns they prefer, such as sourdough, multigrain or naked (without bun).

We were served sampling sizes at the opening and I got to try the JUGLANS, a vegan burger served with wheat patty, cranberries, sprouts and walnuts. It was flavourful, tender and good, I almost could not tell that there was no meat because the patty was so well-crafted and fragrant. The fries and salad that came along were delicious too, some may feel that the fries are a tad too salty but for these fresh, hot and crunchy fries, I'll make an exception.

At Hans Im Glück with fellow foodie @decipherkieffer !

Do you know why Kieffer was holding a sign saying #pathtohappiness? The idea came from the name 'Hans Im Glück'. 'Hans Im Glück', a German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. As the story goes, Hans was given a lump of gold for his seven years of labour, in return he traded for a series of material goods along the way home and ended up with a heavy grindstone. At the end of the story, Hans stopped for a drink by the river and the grindstone fell in the deep waters. Instead of feeling lost, he was relieved and happy to finally lose the weight of these material goods. He finally got up with a light heart and recounted how lucky he was as he journeyed his way back to see his mother. "There is no man under the sun as fortunate as I!" declared Hans.

What a lovely story behind the name of this establishment! Besides the good food, expect a walk into the woods as you enter the restaurant. You will see lush greenery and floor-to-ceiling birch tree trunks as pillars. A definite place to visit when you want an escape from the busy town.
