The Coffee Connoisseur, TCC, ushers in the Dragonboat Festival with exciting localised Onigiris to spice up contemporary palates! Chomp in on these delectable rice dumplings in the style of Japanese Rice Ball and find a burst of familiar flavours such as Laksa Prawn, Spicy Chicken and Sambal Hortate! Available from May 1st to May 31st at all TCC boutiques cafés!
Laksa Prawn Onigiri ($7.90)
The Laksa prawn onigiri is the latest culinary creation by TCC and the result is mouth-wateringly delicious! Taste the fresh coconut milk and aromatic spice paste that are well-blended into the glutinous rice. At the same time, expect a generous filling of diced tau pok (bean curd puff), fishcakes and springy prawns! We were pleasantly surprised at how the authentic Laksa flavour is finely retained within this onigiri! Probably our favourite out of the three tantalizing onigiris from TCC!
Spicy Chicken Onigiri ($6.50)
For the those looking for a spicy oomph, we would recommend the Spicy Chicken onigiri that stimulates the senses. Filled with dried chilli, chilli seeds, cashew nuts, tender and sweet chicken bites, the result is tongue-tingling and satisfying!
Sambal Hortate Onigiri ($7.90)
The Sambal Hortate onigiri offers clam lovers THE onigiri. Containing fresh and chewy baby clams, this onigiri flavourful, savoury and contains gentle hints of spiciness. The overall texture is crumbly and goes well with a cup of tea!
