Christmas Light-Up in Town!
My favourite time of the year is coming again! Counting down... 40 more days to Christmas! How are you planning to celebrate yours? The official light-up ceremony 2017 just took place last Saturday (Nov 11) outside Ion and was officiated by Mdm President, Halimah Yacob.... now we can start planning for the long awaited "date" to catch the dazzling Christmas lighting on Orchard Road with our loved ones!
Enjoying the Hippo bus ride with the beautiful @mselaineheng! (Thanks Elaine for inviting me to come along for this opening event!)
This year's theme is "Endless Wonder", so expect some fun and fantasy light displays and installations along Orchard Road! We were thrilled to view the wonderful lighting and installations from the HiPPO bus, while learning about some history and fun facts of Orchard Road that were shared with us by Aaron, our guide. If you desire to appreciate the fullness of the displays along Orchard Road, a 20 mins windy ride on the roof of the HiPPO bus would be perfect! After the ride, I was eager to have a closer look at some of the installations, especially the magical-looking Walk of Wonder, a 20m tunnel made from reflective fabric and fairy lights, located outside Forum, the Shopping Mall!
It was an exciting evening, which kicked off with heartwarming performances put together by Community Chest, Orchard Road Business Association and ION Orchard. Our eyes and ears were treated to remarkable music and carol performances by the inclusive community. Among the team, there were talented special needs individuals who played a great part to celebrate and spread joyful vibes for this season! It was simply awe-inspiring!
Beautiful Christmas tunes by The Purple Symphony.
Cheerful carols by The Purple Symphony.
Epic perfomance by Bertrand Lee (pianist) and Mikey Robinson (vocal). It is wonderful to be one of the attendees here to witness this accomplished young talent! Mikey had solo performance at New York’s Carnegie Hall in 2016 and 2017.
Well, this is just the beginning! I am looking forward to Singapore's first Christmas Village, which will be set up at the doorstep of Ngee Ann City, starting from Nov 25 and running for a month! This will remind you of traditional Christmas markets that you see in Europe!
Be sure to mark your calendars and head down to Orchard Road with your family and friends this joyous season! :)
